Some VST plugins like Native Instruments Kontakt and UVI Workstation can be used in standalone mode. Keyscape has been the first VST that has given me problems.

All of my other VSTs (ie - Ravenscroft, Galaxy Vintage D, Garritan CFX, Lounge Lizard and Pianoteq 5) have always loaded properly in Reaper, and all showed up as available as soon as they were installed.Also, it has quite low system requirements: I can use 3 mic postition Steinway & Sons have actually approved the sounds of the Pianoteq 6 $=String.
